WHS Girls Golf Program

We promote excellence in academics, arts and athletics.

High School is a time for personal growth and exploration of new interests. I hope that you try something new, challenge yourself and go out of your way to meet new people.  WHS offers 36 varsity sports and a variety of fine arts (Band, Choir, Orchestra, Theatre, Debate and Speech) and clubs.  In September, an Activities Fair will highlight many club opportunities that will exist during the year. You can follow newsletters and the whsactivities.org website to learn more about upcoming events throughout the school year.

WHS Girls Golf Team is looking for committed players to join the team for the 23-24 season.   Head Coach Karen Weiss is a former LPGA Golfer and has a vast amount of knowledge to teach and make the game of golf fun for competitive individuals.

Karen Weiss- Head Girls Golf Coach-  My nearly 50 years of golf experience help me see golf through a variety of lenses: as a caddy working with players of all levels manage their way around the golf course, as a collegiate player learning to blend my personal journey with that of a team, as an LPGA player, competing in elite level competition for 13 years, as a golf instructor striving to communicate a technical game to players of all levels, and now after 4 years, as a coach leading a group of young women on their own golfing journey. Those experiences inform two of my foundational keys to success: almost everything in golf starts and ultimately come back to the fundamentals, and the most important shot in golf isn’t in the past or the future, it’s in the present.  In other words, I feel that preparation and being mental focused are two of the most important keys to success in golf. My goal as a golf coach is to help strengthen player’s commitment and connection to these concepts in a “no fail zone”.  But more broadly speaking, my purpose as a golf coach is to provide the trusted support, guidance and spark that players need in order build self-confidence, develop character and chase dreams with integrity and determination.

Lindsey Huettl- Assistant Coach- Lindsey is a native of Mankato, where she grew up golfing alongside her parents.  A 3-sport athlete in high school, Lindsey took her love of soccer with her to college, playing for MSU.  After graduating college and moving to Woodbury in 2010, she used her love of golf to build connections in her new community.  Her passion for the game is undeniable as you can often find her on the course multiple times a day. But Lindsey is not just a “golf course rat” she is a knowledgeable accomplished player, having won several Women’s Club Championship titles.  I

Cathy White – Assistant Coach- Cathy is another experienced golf enthusiast. Cathy is an accomplish golfer both as a player and a teacher. Having competed collegiately at UW Madison, (being a two time captain) winning Club Championships and teaching under Minnesota legends such as Craig Waryan and  Rob Harry, she adds her wealth of knowledge to the coaching staff.  We are so very lucky to have both Lindsey and Cathy round out what is certainly one of the most knowledgeable and accomplished coaching staffs in Minnesota HS Golf.

Message from Coach Weiss

My primary purpose as a coach is to provide the trusted support,  guidance and spark that young people need in order build self-confidence,  develop character and chase dreams with integrity and purpose

We will strive to create an environment where learning is collaborative, where it is safe to fail, and where its rewarding to participate in the process of both preparation and competition. As competitors we will be driven by opportunity not outcome
