Previously, Coach Doughty spent seven years working at White Bear Lake in the girls basketball program both with the high school and traveling program. Four of those years were as the varsity assistant on the girls basketball team, where they made two state tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016. In 2014, he was named assistant coach of the year for 4AAAA and coached in the Minnesota Girls High School All Star Game. In 2016-2017, Doughty was a Varsity Assistant with the Stillwater Area Boys Varsity Basketball program.
Graduating from Anoka High School, Doughty was a member of the 1992 State Tournament Championship Team and took second place in 1993. Bryan was a 1,000 point scorer and a finalist for Mr. Basketball.
