2017 Booster Club Events

Parent Appreciation Night

Event Purpose:  

  • To allow players an opportunity to show appreciation toward their parents/guardians.
  • To welcome fans and visitors to a new year of volleyball

Event Description

Committee Responsibilities


Youth Night

Event Purpose:  Promote WHS Volleyball to parents and kids involved in the area youth volleyball programs, namely WAA and Woodbury Middle School.

Event Description:  Kids in youth volleyball programs are invited to the match and get in free. They are given some token gifts for coming and they get a chance to meet the players on the team after the match.

  • Kids are asked to wear their team jersey to get in free.
  • Kids may receive a Varsity team photo and autographs following match.
  • Kid may receive coupon for pop and popcorn.
  • Kids may receive token gifts from sponsors.

Committee Responsibilities:

  • Contact the Woodbury Volleyball Club Director/Rec Director and create a flyer for the event.
  • Solicit donations for prizes and giveaways.
  • Distribute flyers at youth practices/matches and at the middle schools.
  • Get copies of the Varsity team photo for the autograph session following the match.  Have a table, chairs, pens, and photos ready for the players to autograph.
  • Provide a script for the announcer to welcome youth and to announce prize winners as names are drawn.
  • Supervise the event


Homecoming

Event Purpose:  Celebrate Homecoming Week kicking off with breakfast for all players on Monday morning and ending with extra fun events, including recognizing any alumni in attendance at game on Thursday.

Committee Responsibilities:

  • Arrange a breakfast at school for players.
    • Reserve cafeteria overflow area for 7:45-8:25am.  Confirm availability of overflow area ASAP.
    • Remind players of breakfast day/time.
    • Arrange for breakfast food
  • Make a sign for the team to run through for game day.
  • Make locker decorations (volleyball magnets) and have Captains distribute.
  • Arrange for pep band if possible.
  • Make announcement in Woodbury Bulletin inviting WHS volleyball alum players and parents to game.  Include contact email/# for alum to RSVP if able to attend so they can be announced at start of game.
  • Announce any returning volleyball alumni.
  • Provide game day treat/goodies for all teams. Ask office staff if they can deliver to each player on game day. Captains can help distribute.


Staff Appreciation Night

Event Purpose: To honor a teacher/administrator from Woodbury High School of each Varsity player's choosing for the positive difference they have made in that player's life.

Event Description:  Prior to the start of the Varsity match, each player and the teacher/administrator are introduced.

Committee Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Varsity players have asked a teacher/administrator to the game.  Perhaps with a card of thanks to the person, which includes the date and time of the Staff Appreciation Event.
  • Create a flyer with photos of each Varsity player with their chosen teacher/administrator and a written description of the reason(s) that person was selected.
  • Flyers will be passed out at Staff Appreciation Night.
  • Create a script for the PA announcer to introduce each player and teacher/administrator.


Spirit Night

Event Purpose: To generate school spirit

Senior Night

Event Purpose: Honor the seniors on their last night of play at home.

Event Description: Recognize and celebrate Seniors and their parents during the last home match of the season.  Seniors make a tri-fold highlight poster of their daughters’ volleyball career.  Brochure featuring Senior memories are printed and handed out to their families. Seniors and their parents are announced prior to the start of the game.  Underclass players present Seniors with a gift prior to start of game.  There is a reception after the game.

Committee Responsibilities:

  • Invite the families of Seniors to the event.
  • Inform Seniors to create a highlight poster to be displayed at Senior Night.
  • Determine and purchase gifts for the Seniors.
  • Solicit memories about Seniors from underclass teammates for the brochure and script during the gift presentation.
  • Design and print brochure.  Color copies for the Senior families, black and white for the fans.
  • Prepare a script to introduce each Senior and her family.  Underclass teammates may announce/present gift.
  • Arrange for a reception, usually cookies and punch.


Year End Banquet

Event Description: Dinner, awards presentation, and highlight DVD celebrating the season for all teams.

Committe Responsiblities:

  • Work with the banquet location to select menu, table decorations, etc.
  • Send evite invitations to all players, parents, coaches and other support staff.
  • Collect banquet fee from parents attending.  (The cost for the players is covered by the participation fee paid at the start of the season).
  • Coordinate with board members for end of season highlight DVD.
  • Coordinate with team captains, coaches, and board regarding program.
  • Create and publish program.
