Hello everyone,

We are very excited to be kicking off the 2024-2025 season with our preseason meeting on October 29th at 7:30 in the lecture hall. I strongly urge everyone to attend as there will be apparel, the season schedule, and other important information. I hope to see all returning, and new swimmers there!

Congratulations to the Boys Swim Team who finished 12th as the state meet March 2 at the UM Aquatics Center. 

200 Yard Medley Relay -  Section Champions (1:37.39) - Raymond Webb, Gunnar Seversen, Derek Stadheim and Grant McElwain - state placed 16th in prelims with a time of 1:38.90. Finished 13th at finals with a time of 1:38.25. 

200 Yard Free Relay- Section Champions 1:28.64 - Raymond Webb, Andrew Qing, Grant McElwain, and Aiden Tsao, state placed 13th in prelims with a time of 1:29.15.Finished 13th at finals with a time of 1:28.45.

Boys 400 Yard Free Relay- Section Champions 3:13.25- Gunnar Seversen, Grant McElwain, Aiden Tsao, Derek Stadheim - state placed 8th in prelims with a time of 3:13.62. Gunnar Seversen had a lead off split meet record with a time of 46.52 in prelims. Finished 8th in finals earning All-State honors with a time of 3:12.65. 

Senior Gunnar Seversen 

• 200 Free  Section Champion 1:41.22 (Section Record), finished 3rd overall with a time of 1:41.45. Earned All-State honors

• 500 Free Section Champion 4:37.71, finished 3rd overall with a time of 4:34.40 earning a personal record and All-State Honors

• Member of the 200 Yard Medley Relay Team 13th in state meet

• Member of the 400 Yard Free Relay Team 8th in state meet earning All-State honors

• Gunnar broke the following pool records this year: 

  • Preliminary State competition lead off split meet record with a time of 46.52

  • 200 Freestyle school record with a 1:40.69

  • 200 IM pool record 1:55.78

  • School 100 freestyle record 46.52

• Gunnar has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in college

Eleventh Grader Derek Stadheim 

• 200 Free 2nd Place 1:45.03 sections,  finished 18th overall with a time of 1:48.16 in state prelims.

• 500 Free 2nd Place 4:47.03 sections, finished 14th overall with a time of 4:47.52 in state finals

Eleventh Grader Raymond Webb

• 50 Free 2nd Place 22.29 sections, finished 19th overall with a time of 22.54 in state prelims

• 100 Yard Breaststroke Section Champion 1:00.36, finished 19th overall with a time of 1:01.53 in state prelims

State Meet Results 

Congratulations to the Boys Swimming Team for winning the 4AA Section Championship on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024. They won with a team score of 414.5 in a team with only swimmers!

The Royals had a great section meet with several individuals and all relays  advancing to the state meet. The MSHSL Class AA State prelim meet will be on Friday, March 1 and finals on Saturday, March 2 at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.  State Meet Information.

• Tenth Grader Grant Mcelwain finished 6th 200 Free 1:52.51and 15th in the 500 Freestyle 5:35.08

• Eleventh Grader Logan Riter finished 11th in 200 Yard Freestyle 1:57.10 and eighth in the 500 Freestyle 5:14.98

• Tenth Grader Ethan Lu finished 5th in the 200 Yard IM 2:10.00 and 7th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke 1:04.59

• Senior Ben Lunzer finished 15th in the 200 Yard IM 2:20.95 and 9th in the 100 Yard Butterfly 1:00.24

• Ninth Grader Colton Rosinski tied for 11th in the 50 Freestyle 24.24 and sixth in the 100 Yard Backstroke 58.38

• Junior Aiden Tsao finished 3rd in the 50 Free 22.48 and 3rd in the 100 butterfly with a 55.88

• Ninth Grader Andrew Qing finished 4th in the 50 Free with a time of 22.71 and 3rd in the breaststroke with a time of 1:02.03

• Ninth Grader Henry Huebscher finished 6th in the 100 Yard Butterfly 59.55 and 16th in the 100 Yard Freestyle 56.08

• Ninth Grader Sig Larson finished 15th in the 100 Yard Butterfly 1:04.17 and 13th in the 100 Yard Backstroke 1:03.31

• Eleventh Grader John Worth finished 11th in the 100 Yard Freestyle 54.54

• Eleventh Grader Eli Faulkner finished 12th in the 100 Yard Freestyle 54.66

• Tenth Grader Ethan Chen finished 15th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke 1:10.93

Congratulations to the Boys Swimming Team for going undefeated and winning the conference championship this season! Congratulations Royals! Senior Gunnar Seversen has broke 2 pool records in the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.17 and the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.78. The other seniors on the team are Lotan Riter, Owen Rogers, Kieran Mungovan, Ehan Chen, and Ben Lunzer.

The team will compete in sections on Thursday, Feb 22 and Saturday, Feb 24 at Stillwater Middle School. Good Luck to the WHS Boys Swim Team. The ticket link will be available here once provided.

Congratulations to the Boys Swim and Dive True Team for winning the True Team Section Championship, January, 13 at Stillwater Middle School.   The team will advance to True Team State Meet on Saturday, January 20 at 5 PM at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.  Tickets for the event will be shared with Woodbury Families next week.

The Boys Swim and Dive Team has had a remarkable last two weeks, with victories over Stillwater and East Ridge.  Gunnar Seversen broke pool records at Oltman Middle School in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.02 and the 500 Free 4:40.39.
