The Royals grapplers took 2 of 3 duals at home on Thursday, beating Tartan and Lakeville South and losing to conference foe Mounds View.

In the opener against the Mustangs, the visitors took an early 11-0 lead before Cole West won by a major decision.  Brady Moesenthin also stayed hot, beating the 5th ranked wrestler in the state by decision.  Brock Rinehart and Donald Nde won by fall, but the Royals could not overcome a tough Mounds View team, losing 46-20.

Against an undermanned Tartan team, Woodbury took a 48-0 lead, with wins by Alex Braun (maj dec), Antonio Rizzo (dec), Cade Johnson (fall), Will Bents (fall), Moesenthin (maj dec), and Rinehart (fall).  Also posting victories for Woodbury were Ahmed Abdelal (fall), Nde (tech fall) and Mason Barrows (dec).  With Woodbury also taking 4 forfeits, the final score against the Titans was 68-4.

Lakeville South was the final dual of the night, with Woodbury posting a 51-21 victory.  Winning for Woodbury:  Braun (tech fall), Johnson (fall), Bents (dec), Moesenthin (fall), Rinehart (dec), Nde (maj dec) and Ahmed Abelal (fall).  South also forfeited 3 weights.

On the Junior Varsity side, winners for the Royals: Nick Sieczkowski (dec), Fahim Belfatmi (fall), Luke Fleischhacker (2 by fall), Gavin Nelson (dec, fall), Ahmed Abdelal (dec, maj dec), Thomas Moesenthin (2 by fall, dec), Phil Wiggins (2 by fall, maj dec), Dave Hawley (dec, fall), Sebastian Zamorano (2 by fall), Nick Howe (fall), Logan Ryan (2 by fall, dec) and Trenton Willner, who pinned 5 on the night!

Friday, the varsity Royals travel to Chisago Lakes for an individual tourney.
