The Royals grapplers took 5th in their own dual tournament Saturday, but that doesn't reflect the high quality wrestling shown over the weekend.  Woodbury wrestled to a 33-33 tie against a very tough Cambridge-Isanti team, but C-I took the match by criteria.  The Royals then took down Henry Sibley 63-13 and Annandale-Maple Lake 47-24.

Against Cambridge-Isanti, Royals winning matches were Antonio Rizzo (dec), Cade Johnson (fall), Cole West (fall), Brady Moesenthin (dec), Brock Rinehart (dec), Donald Nde (fall) and Mason Barrows (fall).

The Woodbury squad mowed section foe Henry Sibley and winners were Alex Braun (fall), Johnson (forf), West (fall), Will Bents (dec), Moesenthin (fall), Sam Ellis (fall), Rinehart (fall), Omar Abdelal (forf), Nde (fall), Tre Hockenberger (fall) and Barrows (forf).

In the 5th place match against a tough ANML team, the highlight was Brady Moesenthing reaching his 100th career win, by fall.  Other winners:  Braun (dec), West (forf), Ryan Holt (forf), Bents (maj dec), Ellis (fall), Rinehart (fall), Abdelal (fall) and Nde (maj dec).

Congratulations to Shakopee for taking the championship on Saturday.

Up this week:  the Royals host a quadrangular starting at 4:30pm on Thursday, 12/13.  Incoming teams are Tartan, Mounds View and Lakeville South.  Woodbury wrestlers will be honoring teachers that evening.

On Friday, Woodbury will travel to Chisago Lakes HS for an individual tournament starting at 4:00pm.  Other teams include Champlin Park, Goodhue, Grand Rapids, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Maple Grove, North, Proctor, Robbinsdale Armstrong, Rogers, Royalton, Rush City, Saint Croix Falls, Stewartville and Chisago Lakes.
