Royals fall to Raptors, Wolfpack, crush Minutemen

The Royals fell to East Ridge and Park in the district triangular before taking out their frustrations on St Paul Central Thursday night.

In the opener, the Woodbury wrestlers fell in a deep hole 36-0 before Brock Rinehart took a forfeit at 145.  Other winners for the Royals were Donald Nde (16-12 dec), Max Fick (forfeit) and Alex Mancera (fall).  Royals fall to the Raptors, 54-21.

In the match against Park, it was tight throughout and came down to the final two matches to decide the dual.  Antonio Rizzo, Noah Golden and Cade Johnson took forfeits in the first 3 matches to stake the Royals to an early 18-0 lead.  Cedric Ramos won by pin, Rinehart took a forfeit and Nde won by fall to put the Royals up 36-34.  However, the Wolfpack won the final two matches to take the dual, 43-36.

The Woodbury grapplers crushed St Paul Central 69-12 in the finale.  Winning for the Royals:  Rizzo (fall), Johnson (fall), Will Bents (fall), Ramos (fall), Nick Howe (forfeit), Rinehart (fall), Omar Abdelal (fall), Sam Ellis (fall), Mason Barrows (fall), Nde (forfeit), Fick (fall) and Mancera (forfeit).

For the junior varsity, Thomas Moesenthin went 1-1, Nashawn Hoyer 2-2, Ethan Chaney 1-0, Ryan Holt 2-0, Sebastian Zamorano 2-0, Dave Hawley 2-1 and Amir Muhammed 1-0.

The Royals travel to Bloomington Kennedy for the Kennedy Duals on Saturday; action begins at 10:00am.  In addition, the 9th grade and under section tournament will be held at Richfield HS.  That action also starts at 10:00am.
