The Woodbury wrestlers dismantled Henry Sibley and then beat a strong Rochester Mayo squad before being beaten by #1 AAA Shakopee on Saturday in the Woodbury Duals.  The event raised funds for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund.

Against section foe Sibley, the Royals were dominant from the start, with Alex Braun, Brad Little and Will Bents pinning their opponents.  Cade Johnson won by technical fall, Jack Anderson by major decision, Nick Howe by fall and Sebastian Zamorano by decision.  In the final weights, Omar Abdelal won by fall, Brock Rinehart by technical fall, Ahmed Abdelal and Tre Hockenberger won by fall before Thomas Moesenthin and Mason Barrows took forfeit wins to finalize the Royal win at 73-6.

Against Rochester Mayo, Braun and Little again got Woodbury out to at 12-0 start with two pins.  Bents took a major decision victory and Johnson won by technical fall in consecutive weights but the Royals were down 23-21 after 8 weights.  A  major decision victory by Ahmed Abdelal and pins by Rinehart and Hockenberger put the Royals up 40-23 and Trenton Willner's pin finalized the Woodbury victory at 46-29.

Braun got the Royals out to another great start with a pin in the opening match...but facing a number of top-ranked wrestlers prevented additional team points until Zamorano got a decision mid-way through the match.  Rinehart and Barrows won by decision to make the final score Shakopee 55, Woodbury 14 (one team point deduction).

Winning bouts for JV were Caleb Howe, Logan Ryan, Mike Hall, Noah Golden, Fernando Cartagena, Thomas Moesenthin, Stanley Iturinno, Denis Tokin, Gavin Wilson and Jack Anderson.
