The cheer program at Woodbury High School offers several cheerleading options that encourage and develop sportsmanship, physical fitness, community relationships, leadership, teamwork, responsibility and respect. The squads participate in community service, parades, camps and fundraising events year round.
Squads are formed the spring before the participation school year through a tryout process for all squads. Additional tryouts may be held if the coach deems necessary.
Please see Tryout Tab for more details.
The following squads are offered:
Sideline Head Coach: Tami Stauffacher
I grew up in central Wisconsin where I cheered from 7-12th grades (as a Royal!). I also cheered at UW-La Crosse and served as captain and choreographer for our competitions in college. I coached sideline and competitive cheer for four years at St. Ambrose of Woodbury before coaching at WHS.
In my ninth season at WHS, I look forward to enjoying the sport of cheerleading with the team. I strive to help each athlete develop the skills required for cheer and life. We will work hard to improve technique and skills while constantly focusing on safety, personal accountability and growth. We will work as a team to form positive relationships with all squad members and the WHS community.
I see a successful season as one where each athlete has fun, improves personally and learns personal accountability and responsibility.
Competition Head Coach: Nyssa Johnson
I grew up in Coon Rapids, MN where I cheered all four years of high school at Coon Rapids High School, and competing at High School Nationals in 2013.
After graduating I went on to cheer at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) for four years on the Small CO-ED Cheer team and the All-Girl Cheer team from 2014-2018.
This is my second year with Woodbury High School and I am excited for many more to come! I encourage each athlete to grow within the sport as well as in their everyday lives. I want every athlete to develop confidence and an admirable work ethic in a safe atmosphere all while having fun. I strive to teach valuable lessons to every member of the WHS family that they can take with them into the next steps their future holds.
