Ballpark atmosphere:

I might be slightly biased in my assessment but the Woodbury fans and stadium create the best atmosphere in the SEC.  You will not experience a better atmosphere for a high school baseball game then when Royal stadium is full which routinely happens at least 3 times a year.  The 3 occasions are when the Royals play crosstown rival East Ridge, and when special promotions are occurring at the stadium such as WAA in-house baseball day and Lunds and Byerly's day, which includes free cake samples for the fans.

All the subtle nuances combine to create a great atmosphere.  The most comfortable seating in the SEC, on-site restrooms, on-site concessions, a solid PA system and announcer, outfield padding and infield turf around home plate and the pitcher's mound.  Add in music between innings, player-specific songs for each of the Royal batters as they come up to bat and for the 2018-19 season, BRAND NEW DUGOUTS, and you have a high school baseball experience that is second to none.

Rest Room Accommodations:

As good as it gets, Royal stadium is one of only two stadiums in the SEC with on-site restrooms.

Shade:

Because the stadium is surrounded by a parking lot and tennis courts, little shade is available other than under the bleachers.  If it is a sunny day, it would be a good idea to bring sunscreen and/or an umbrella.

Sitting:

The bleachers are not your standard hard aluminum with no backrests.  The stadium has the most comfortable seats in the SEC due to the fact they once resided in the Metrodome!  That’s right, these may very well be the exact same seats you once sat in to watch the Twins play in the Metrodome.

Parking/walking distance to the field:

Plenty of parking is available and the lot is right next to the stadium.  The shortest walking distance in the conference.  The lot is so close you might want to think about parking farther away as you might have a lasting remembrance of the game when you return to your car because the parking lot is in foul ball territory.

Food:

Plenty of concessions available on site.  And since the concession stand has been under the new direction (Donna Erickson), the menu of warm items has been significantly upgraded. For the 2019 season feature items and prices include: BBQ Pork Sandwich ($3) and Hot dogs ($2). Also available are chips and candy bars for a ($1), sunflower seeds ($3, please spit shells in a cup), peanuts ($1, please put shells in a cup), pop and sports drink ($2), and water ($1). So if your running late for the game, don't worry about it, Donna has your back and you can buy dinner at the game.

The concession stand is tucked under the bleachers.

Places to eat before/after the game:

We all know the hot spots to hit in Woodbury.  However, I would be remiss if I did not mention our sponsor the McDonalds located at 1759 Weir Drive and Cowboy Jack's located at 1690 Woodlane Dr. Each is located within a mile of the stadium.

Location of lower-level games:

Woodbury JV games are played at the main stadium on nights when varsity is not playing. 9th and 10th-grade games are played at Ojibway Park which are located directly west of the school. The best place to park for these games is the Woodbury High School parking lot located just off Wyndham Way.
