Ballpark atmosphere:

The ball field is a long distance from the school. It's a toss-up between Mounds View and White Bear Lake for which field is farther away from the high school. Fortunately, in the last couple of years the school has students with golf carts to give fans a lift to the field.

The field is surrounded by trees which is very nice and gives the feeling that the game is being played in a community park. Add in the fact that most of the fans are parents and you might get the feeling that you are back in time at a youth traveling baseball game. That is until the game begins as Mounds View routinely has a very strong team.

Rest Room Accommodations:

There is a port-a-potty located on-site

Shade:

The shade is plentiful as mature, well-established, trees surround the field. In addition, the bleachers back up to a large tree that provides plenty of shade for fans sitting in the bleachers.

Seating/Royal’s Dugout Location:

There is plenty of seating and the bleachers are your standard hard aluminum with no backrests.  There is space to pitch your folding lawn chair around the backstop/dugouts.  The visitor’s/Royal’s dugout is on the first base side.

Parking/walking distance:

The best place to park is in the small lot directly south of the school. This is a very small lot but will cut your walk down significantly if you are fortunate enough to find a parking spot.  If this lot is full the only place to park is in the main parking lot next to the football stadium. Note: the baseball field is not visible from this parking lot but it is beyond the football field.

Bring your walking shoes and carry everything you need with you. It's a long walk and if you need to make two trips or if you forgot something in your car, you will miss a good portion of the game making an extra trip to your car.

Food:

There are no on-site concessions.

Places to eat before/after the game:

There is not much to choose from around the school for places to eat.  There is a Jimmy John’s off of County Road B2 across 35W from the high school.  If you really want to make a night of it, grab a steak dinner before (opens at 5) or after the game at Lindey’s Prime Steak House which is 2 miles away (3600 Snelling Avenue North, Arden Hills, MN 55112) and has been a fixture for over 60 years.
